As in many industries and professions, medical folks use abbreviations or slang for almost everything. Our
own verbal short hand saves breath and time documenting. I’ve created a short list that I commonly use. Weither you are in an emergency room (ER) or for that matter in any medical situation listen up for these listed in Deciphering Medical Jargon. It is worth the few minutes to read under Adult Medical Common Sense and refer to as needed. You’ll not only impress friends at parties but shock medical folks when you are not insulted by being called ‘SOB'(short of breath)!
